Heatwave Grips Israel With Extreme Temperatures and Humidity
Israel is currently experiencing a severe heatwave, with unseasonably high temperatures and heavy humidity affecting the entire country. The Israeli Meteorological Service has issued warnings for extreme heat in the Gush Dan region, Eilat Bay, and the southern Arava desert, effective from morning until evening.
Temperatures have seen sharp increases. On Tuesday, Tel Aviv is expected to reach around 33 degrees Celsius (91.4 F), Jerusalem 31 C (87.8 F), Tiberias 38 C (100.4 F), and Eilat a scorching 41 C (105.8 F). The intense heat poses a significant risk of dehydration and heatstroke, particularly during midday hours and for those spending extended periods outdoors.
Little relief is expected on Wednesday, with similar temperatures forecast: Tel Aviv around 33 C, Tiberias 38 C, and Eilat 41 C. Jerusalem may see a slight increase to 32 C (89.6 F).
By Thursday, a slight decrease in temperatures is anticipated in some areas, though the weather will remain hot and oppressive. Jerusalem will be around 30 C (86 F), Tel Aviv 32 C (89.6 F), Tiberias 37 C (98.6 F), and Eilat 40 C (104 F).
The heatwave is expected to subside by the weekend. Temperatures will drop to around 27 C (80.6 F) on Friday and Saturday, with a further cooling trend on Sunday, reaching approximately 19 C (66.2 F) during the day. The public is urged to exercise extreme caution, avoid prolonged sun exposure, drink plenty of fluids, and pay special attention to vulnerable populations like children, the elderly, and those with chronic illnesses.
