Hapoel Beer Sheva Signs Ghanaian Midfielder Amankwah Forson on Loan

Hapoel Beer Sheva officially announced the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Amankwah Forson on Wednesday evening, during their match against Hapoel Haifa. The 23-year-old joins the Israeli champions on loan from English club Norwich City until the end of the season. Hapoel Beer Sheva will have the option to purchase Forson for two million euros at the end of his loan spell.

Forson's arrival bolsters the team's midfield, joining previously signed players Adrian Gricé and Idan Nachmias. The club is reportedly pleased with this swift acquisition and is considering signing another Israeli midfielder to further strengthen the squad.

Forson, who stands at 1.73 meters tall, began his career in Ghana at the WAFA academy before moving to Red Bull Salzburg in February 2021. He initially played for Liefering in Austria's second division, scoring six goals in 29 league appearances, and was later loaned to Altach. He eventually joined Salzburg's senior team, making 35 Austrian Bundesliga appearances with two goals and playing four times in the Champions League.

In August 2024, Norwich City acquired Forson from Salzburg for approximately £4 million, signing him to a four-year contract. He made 40 appearances and scored four goals in the Championship during his first two seasons with the club. Forson is also a member of the Ghanaian national team, earning two caps since his debut in March 2024 against Nigeria.
