Hapoel Be'er Sheva Signs Amankwah Forson to Replace Key Player

Hapoel Be'er Sheva is set to sign 23-year-old attacking midfielder Amankwah Forson, who is expected to replace the team's former star player, Kings Kangwa. Forson, who previously played alongside Oscar Gloukh at Red Bull Salzburg and was acquired for 4.5 million euros, is younger than Kangwa was upon his arrival in Israel. While Kangwa progressed through Israeli youth systems, Forson was identified as a top talent early on, purchased by Salzburg at 19.

Forson's career has seen him loaned to FC Liefering and then Altach, where he became a key player. He played alongside and sometimes in place of Gloukh at Salzburg, adapting to various midfield roles, including a more defensive position, a trait praised by his coaches. He also earned a call-up to the Ghanaian national team.

Despite a promising start, Forson's time at Norwich City was hampered by injuries and adaptation challenges in the physically demanding English Championship. He suffered a shoulder injury and later a knee injury, missing significant time due to various ailments. He made 22 appearances in the squad and missed 24 games due to injuries during his tenure.

At Hapoel Be'er Sheva, Forson is expected to play a more attacking role, utilizing his speed and dribbling ability, inspired by players like Bernardo Silva. While his goal-scoring numbers have been modest, his ability to create space, drive forward, and assist is seen as crucial for the team, especially with existing strikers. He is considered a less complete player than Kangwa but a potentially good fit for the squad, known for his quiet work ethic and tactical flexibility.
