Hapoel Be'er Sheva Signs Ghanaian Midfielder Amankwah Forson on Loan

Hapoel Be'er Sheva is set to sign Ghanaian midfielder Amankwah Forson, 23, on loan from Norwich City without a purchase option. Forson, who was acquired by Norwich for approximately 4.5 million euros two years ago, has experience playing in the Champions League and has made dozens of appearances in the English Championship. He is seen as a replacement for Kings Kangwa, who is departing the club.

Forson is a versatile midfielder capable of playing centrally, in a more attacking role, or on the right wing. He is 1.73 meters tall, left-footed, and prefers to receive the ball facing the goal to initiate attacks. His current market value is estimated at around three million euros.

Born in Ghana in December 2002, Forson began his professional career at the WAFA academy before moving to Europe at 18, joining Red Bull Salzburg. He initially played for Salzburg's development team, Liefering, and was later loaned to Altach in the Austrian top league. By the 2022/23 season, he had become part of Salzburg's senior squad, where he played alongside Oscar Gloukh. During the 2023/24 season, Forson made 23 league appearances, scoring twice and assisting twice, and played four times in the Champions League, including a match where he substituted for Gloukh against Inter Milan.

In the summer of 2024, Norwich City signed Forson on a four-year contract, seeing him as a player with significant potential and versatility. However, his time in England was marked by inconsistency, with 40 league appearances and four goals over two seasons, often coming off the bench and dealing with injuries. Be'er Sheva hopes Forson can immediately realize his potential, similar to how Kings Kangwa thrived after a difficult period in Europe.

Forson has also represented the Ghanaian national team, making his senior debut in March 2024 against Nigeria and has since earned two caps. He arrives in Israel seeking significant playing time to become a key player, aiming to replicate the success of players like Kangwa who found form in Be'er Sheva after challenging spells abroad.
