Hapoel Be'er Sheva Signs Amankwah Forson to Replace Key Player

Hapoel Be'er Sheva is set to sign 23-year-old attacking midfielder Amankwah Forson, who is expected to replace the departing Kings Kangwa. Forson, who previously played alongside Oscar Gloukh at Red Bull Salzburg, arrives with a history of frequent injuries but also significant potential.

Forson was acquired by Salzburg at 19 and spent time on loan at Liefering before moving to Altach, where he became a key player. He played alongside and sometimes in place of Gloukh, demonstrating adaptability by playing a more defensive midfield role despite preferring an attacking position. His versatility earned praise from coaches and led to a call-up to the Ghanaian national team.

Despite being purchased by Norwich City for 4.5 million euros at age 21, Forson's time there was hampered by injuries, including a shoulder issue and later a knee injury, limiting his appearances. He struggled to adapt to the physical demands of the English Championship, missing a significant number of games due to various ailments.

At Hapoel Be'er Sheva, Forson is expected to play a more central and attacking role than he has in previous clubs, where he was often asked to fulfill defensive duties or play wide. His speed, noted at 35.1 km/h last season, is seen as a key asset that can exploit space on the field, a trait that mirrors some of Kangwa's strengths.

While Forson's goal contributions have been modest in his career thus far, his ability to break down defenses, quickly release passes, and identify space is what Be'er Sheva needs to complement their existing strikers. He is described as a quiet, hardworking, and tactically flexible player, potentially offering a surprise element to the team.
