Israel Neutralizes Hamas Operatives, Arrests Terror Suspects Amid Yom Kippur Security Operations
Israeli security forces, including the IDF and Shin Bet, have eliminated three Hamas operatives involved in the October 7th attacks. Yahya Hamdouna, who infiltrated Israel on October 7th, was killed, along with Mohammed Rafai, another participant in the infiltration. Bassir al-Barash, described as a commander in Hamas's elite Nukhba force, was also neutralized in operations over the weekend.
In the West Bank, the IDF arrested a Palestinian terrorist suspected of a deadly shooting attack near the Neve Tzuf settlement. The attack killed Netanel Shakron, a father of six. The suspect, who allegedly exchanged fire with soldiers before fleeing, was apprehended in a hospital after being wounded. In a separate incident in northern Samaria, two Palestinians attempted a car-ramming attack on a checkpoint; one was killed and the other arrested, with no Israeli casualties.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed that "no terrorist is safe" and pledged to settle accounts with those who aided them, extending condolences to the family of the Neve Tzuf victim. He ordered the demolition of the terrorist's home.
In preparation for Yom Kippur, air traffic was suspended at Ben Gurion Airport at 1:55 PM, resuming Monday evening. Ramon and Haifa airports also halted operations, with flights to resume Tuesday morning.
Separately, two teenagers were arrested in Eilat for allegedly assaulting a hotel security guard who denied them entry.
