Palestinian Attacker Kills Israeli Man in West Bank Shooting, Captured Alive

A 30-year-old Israeli man succumbed to his wounds on Thursday after being critically injured in a shooting attack near the settlement of Neve Tzuf in the Benjamin region of the West Bank. The attack occurred on the eve of Yom Kippur, a major Jewish holiday.

Following the shooting, Israeli forces from the Duvdevan Unit apprehended the assailant in a Ramallah hospital. The attacker was reportedly wounded by a nearby tracker during the incident, which saw him arrive at the scene in a vehicle, exit with a long rifle, and open fire on the victim before fleeing on foot. Paramedics described finding the victim unconscious with multiple gunshot wounds inside his vehicle and attempting life-saving measures before evacuating him to the hospital.

The incident was part of a wave of violence that included other attempted attacks. In the northern Samaria region, at the Ganim checkpoint, two soldiers were targeted in an attempted ramming attack. Security forces returned fire, killing one attacker and critically wounding the second, who later died. Another attempted ramming occurred near the village of Silwad, where a truck driver was stopped and questioned without casualties. Additionally, a car with no license plates attempted to ram two Israelis near the village of Al-Silo, but they escaped unharmed.

In Jerusalem, a separate incident saw Arab assailants throw stones at Jewish youths in the City of David. One of the targeted individuals, fearing for his life, fired a warning shot into the air, causing the attackers to flee. Police are searching for the stone-throwers. Another report detailed an Israeli man who mistakenly entered a village near Hebron, was attacked by a mob, and required a large security force to extract him.

In response to the escalating violence, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the IDF and Shin Bet to increase operations in the West Bank, including imposing closures, conducting offensive actions, and demolishing the homes of attackers. He vowed that "no terrorist is immune." Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and President Isaac Herzog also condemned the attacks, offering condolences to the victim's family and emphasizing national unity against terrorism. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir called for the death penalty for terrorists.
