Palestinian Attacker Kills Israeli in West Bank, is Neutralized

A Palestinian man attacked and critically wounded a 20-year-old Israeli man in the Samaria region of the West Bank on Thursday. The attacker, who arrived by car near the outpost of Ma'oz Yehuda, stabbed the victim, who was on a Ranger vehicle, and then fled the scene. MDA paramedics and a IDF medical team treated the wounded man, who was evacuated to Beilinson Hospital in moderate to severe condition.

IDF forces, including the Duvdevan unit and the Nachal reconnaissance battalion, launched a manhunt for the assailant and imposed a closure on nearby villages. Forces located the attacker's vehicle near a house in the village of Qabalan and apprehended him. As soldiers entered the building to conduct searches, the suspect attempted to stab them at close range. A commander from the 411th Battalion shot and killed the attacker.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the soldiers for neutralizing the terrorist and vowed to continue eliminating terrorists and destroying terror infrastructure in the West Bank. "No terrorist has a hiding place," Netanyahu stated, adding that "anyone who tries to threaten the State of Israel and its citizens will pay a heavy price."

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant outlined comprehensive plans to combat terrorism in the territories, emphasizing a policy of vigorously pursuing Palestinian terrorism while strengthening Jewish settlement and maintaining security stability. He asserted that terrorism in the West Bank is at its lowest level in decades and pledged to take all necessary steps to prevent its resurgence, drawing parallels to operations in Gaza and Lebanon. Gallant also stated that a return to the reality of ongoing intifadas would not be permitted, nor would a repeat of the October 7th attacks.

Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Regional Council, called for a full lockdown of the area, a broad military operation, house-to-house searches for weapons, and the dismantling of terror supporter infrastructure. He expressed support for the IDF soldiers and prayed for the recovery of the injured man.
