Sara Netanyahu Demands Millions from Left-Wing Activist

Sara Netanyahu, the wife of the Prime Minister, is demanding 5 million shekels from Ail Giler, one of the defendants in the "trash can arson case," after he threatened to sue her. Giler had sent Netanyahu a warning letter before filing a defamation lawsuit, demanding she retract her statements made in an interview with Channel 14 and compensate him.

Netanyahu, through her attorney Uriel Nicai, has rejected Giler's demands for an apology and retraction. She argues that her statements in the interview, where she described tires and barrels placed around the Prime Minister's residence as creating a "ring of fire" and stated the intention was "to kill," do not constitute defamation. Instead, she claims her words reflected the sense of threat she felt due to the events.

Furthermore, Netanyahu's legal response characterizes Giler's warning letter as an attempt to intimidate and silence her, and to interfere with the legal process. Her attorney's letter also alleges that Giler and his associates acted in a "planned, organized, and systematic" manner to create the "ring of fire" around the residence and subsequently obstructed the police investigation by concealing identities and evidence.

In her counter-demand, Netanyahu offered Giler a settlement: if he pays her 5 million shekels, she will not pursue a lawsuit against him. However, if he fails to comply, she threatens to file a lawsuit seeking at least 10 million shekels, plus legal expenses and attorney fees.
