Yair Golan Sues Sara Netanyahu Over Conspiracy Claims
Yair Golan, chairman of the Democratic Party, has filed a lawsuit against Sara Netanyahu, wife of the Prime Minister, following her alleged echoing of conspiracy theories against him during an interview on Channel 14. Golan had demanded a public and unequivocal apology from Netanyahu within 24 hours, along with a financial settlement to be donated entirely to survivors of the Nova music festival massacre. When she refused, Golan proceeded with the lawsuit.
Netanyahu has refused to apologize and sent a letter threatening to sue Golan herself. She previously sent Golan a warning letter demanding a public apology for his alleged dissemination of conspiracy theories regarding the October 7th events. Netanyahu also demanded Golan express regret for the "siege in the barbershop" incident on March 1, 2023, and sought 100,000 shekels in compensation to be donated to the Eli preparatory academy.
Golan's demanded apology text stated: "I retract the statements I made in the Channel 14 interview regarding Mr. Yair Golan, which were nothing but false and baseless nonsense. Mr. Golan went out on October 7th to the Gaza envelope armed only with his weapon and, risking his life, saved young people from the Nova party. Mr. Golan, like all citizens of Israel, learned of the Hamas attack upon hearing the first sirens at 6:29 AM on October 7th, and subsequently decided to take action and went to the field."
