Yair Golan Sues Sara Netanyahu for Defamation Over October 7 Remarks
Yair Golan, leader of the Democratic Party, has filed a defamation and incitement lawsuit against Sara Netanyahu, seeking 2.55 million shekels in damages. The lawsuit was filed in the Central District Court in Lod.
The legal action stems from an interview Netanyahu gave on Channel 14, in which she implied that Golan had prior knowledge of the October 7th events. Golan's suit alleges that Netanyahu's statements have led to increased security threats against him, including a 450% rise in online incitement.
As a result of these threats, Golan has reportedly received security warnings and had to implement enhanced protective measures. Netanyahu has refused to apologize for her remarks, prompting Golan to pursue legal recourse.
