Yair Golan to Sue Sara Netanyahu for Millions Over Alleged Incitement

Yair Golan, chairman of the Democratic Party, is set to file a lawsuit against Sara Netanyahu, wife of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, for remarks she made about him in a Channel 14 interview. The lawsuit, expected to be filed imminently, will reportedly include claims of defamation and endangerment, alleging that Netanyahu's statements put Golan at risk.

Golan's legal action stems from threats he received following the interview, which necessitated security arrangements for him. These threats and the subsequent security measures are expected to be presented as evidence in court. Golan intends to argue that Netanyahu's comments went beyond mere offensive speech and placed him in actual danger.

The lawsuit follows a legal warning letter Golan sent to Netanyahu demanding a public apology and financial compensation within 24 hours. He had stated that if his demands were not met, he would file a lawsuit seeking at least 2.5 million shekels, with the compensation intended as a donation to survivors of the Nova music festival massacre.

The dispute originated from Netanyahu's interview where she questioned Golan's actions and presence on October 7th. She claimed Golan asserted he was a fighter that day, present and ready early on, unlike others, including the Prime Minister. Golan has characterized these remarks as a conspiracy theory against him, initially responding with the warning letter before escalating to a lawsuit.

Meanwhile, Sara Netanyahu has previously indicated her intention to file a counterclaim against Golan, potentially referencing an incident at her hairdresser's in Tel Aviv in March 2023, which Golan has also addressed.
