Netanyahu's Wife Sued for Defamation Over October 7th Conspiracy Claims
Yair Golan, chairman of the Democratic Party, has filed a NIS 2.5 million defamation lawsuit against Sara Netanyahu. The suit stems from remarks Netanyahu made in a Channel 14 interview on October 7th, where she implied Golan was aware of the impending Hamas attack and was prepared early that morning.
Golan's attorney, Giora Erdinast, stated that Netanyahu's comments suggested Golan had prior knowledge of the massacre and failed to warn anyone, thereby putting Golan in "tangible danger." This lawsuit follows a prior warning letter sent by Golan to Netanyahu, demanding a public apology and compensation for victims of the Nova music festival massacre within 24 hours, or face legal action.
In the interview, Netanyahu had said, "You claim you were a fighter on October 7th, you were already there dressed and ready early in the morning, at a very early hour, when others didn't know, like the Prime Minister." The Likud party responded to Golan's actions, calling them a "chauvinistic, thuggish, and violent display."
Golan stated that the lawsuit is not just about his reputation but represents a "civil indictment from an entire camp against a regime that has lost all brakes." He accused the Netanyahu family and their associates of labeling critics as traitors and attempting to rewrite history to escape responsibility for the "terrible failure" of October 7th. He further alleged that Netanyahu is becoming more dangerous as his political situation tightens, resorting to lies and crossing red lines to save himself.
