Yair Golan Sues Sara Netanyahu for NIS 2.5 Million Over October 7 Remarks
Democratic Party chairman Yair Golan has sent a legal warning to Sara Netanyahu, wife of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, demanding NIS 2.5 million in compensation. The dispute stems from an interview Netanyahu gave to Channel 14, where she commented on Golan's actions on the morning of October 7th. Netanyahu stated that Golan was "dressed and ready" early that day, implying he was aware of the unfolding events before others, including the Prime Minister.
Golan's legal team sent a pre-litigation notice, demanding a public apology within 24 hours and a financial settlement to be donated to survivors of the Nova music festival. If these demands are not met, Golan threatened to file a lawsuit for at least NIS 2.5 million.
Sara Netanyahu rejected Golan's demands through her own legal representatives. She argued that her remarks were not directed against Golan in the manner he claimed and that she did not promote a conspiracy theory. She further demanded that Golan remove publications, apologize, and pay NIS 100,000 as a settlement, threatening a counterclaim if he failed to comply.
With the apology deadline having passed without fulfillment, it remains to be seen whether Golan will proceed with filing the lawsuit against Sara Netanyahu.
