Netanyahu's Wife Faces Lawsuit Over Channel 14 Interview Claims

Sara Netanyahu, the wife of Israel's Prime Minister, has received a third warning letter, this time from Eyal Giler, one of the individuals arrested in connection with the "trash can arson" incident. Giler is suing Netanyahu for libel following her remarks during an interview on Channel 14.

In the interview, Netanyahu described the incident, stating that police and security forces found tires and barrels around the house intended for ignition. She claimed the perpetrators aimed to set fire to the house with the occupants inside, intending to cause suffocation and death, and that this act also affected other people. She asserted the intention was truly to kill.

Giler's lawyers argue that Netanyahu's statements falsely attribute a criminal intent to cause death to their client. They contend that her remarks are severe libel, intended to humiliate him, make him a target of hatred and scorn, and disgrace him based on unfounded allegations of serious criminal intent not attributed to him even in the most severe claims of the ongoing court case.

Through their lawyers from the "Detainee Support Network," Giler is demanding a public apology from Netanyahu and NIS 100,000 in damages, or face a NIS 1 million lawsuit.

The "Detainee Support Network" issued a statement saying, "The Prime Minister's wife has spread a series of dangerous lies that permit the shedding of blood of first-class Israeli patriots. We will not allow her to contaminate public discourse and incite against citizens. She will apologize and pay."
