Yair Golan Sues Sara Netanyahu for Defamation Over Treason Allegations

Yair Golan, chairman of the "Democrats" party and a retired Major General, has filed a substantial lawsuit against Sara Netanyahu, wife of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Golan stated that the lawsuit transcends his personal reputation and his actions on October 7th, characterizing it as a "civil indictment of an entire camp against a regime that has lost all restraint." He accused the Netanyahu family and their associates of labeling anyone who criticizes them as traitors for years.

Golan further alleged that the Netanyahus are attempting to rewrite history and portray those who acted to save lives on October 7th as traitors, in an effort to evade responsibility for the "terrible failure" in the country's history. He described Sara Netanyahu's claims as "paranoia" and accused the Prime Minister of fabricating conspiracies, stating, "As the political noose tightens around his neck, he becomes more dangerous." Golan asserted that this is a "despicable and base attempt" to erase facts, shift blame, distort reality, and crush the truth to save himself, vowing to put an end to it.

Golan's attorney, Giora Erdinast, commented that Sara Netanyahu's remarks imply that Golan knew about the October 7th attack in advance and did not share this information. Erdinast called these statements "nonsense and incitement that spill Yair Golan's blood and put him in tangible danger," referencing the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin in 1995 as a consequence of incitement.

The lawsuit stems from an interview Sara Netanyahu gave to Channel 14 on August 31st. In the interview, she suggested that Golan was dressed and ready early on October 7th, before the Prime Minister was aware of the unfolding events, implying prior knowledge of the attack.
