Search Continues for Missing Israeli Sisters in Austria Amid Rising Global Antisemitism

The search for Israeli sisters Mali and Liel Yahalomi, who disappeared in Austria several days ago, is ongoing. Yoav Magnus, CEO of Magnus Search and Rescue, spoke on 103FM about the general process of locating missing persons abroad, emphasizing the close cooperation with the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the department for Israelis overseas. He refrained from commenting specifically on the Austria case but described the methodical and painstaking nature of such investigations, which involve gathering and analyzing data, deploying investigators and volunteers, and maintaining professional detachment despite emotional challenges.

Magnus highlighted the unique solidarity among Israelis worldwide, noting how communities rally to support those in distress. He also addressed the broader context of increasing antisemitism globally, particularly in Europe, which complicates the security environment for Israelis traveling abroad. "There are many cases of antisemitism on a daily basis," he said, citing tensions linked to geopolitical issues such as Iran.

The Israeli Embassy in Vienna issued an urgent call for information regarding the sisters' whereabouts, providing emergency contact numbers for the public and local police. Meanwhile, their brother Ronen flew to Vienna to assist in the search, describing his trip as a last resort to be physically present and involved. The case remains active as authorities and family members continue efforts to locate Mali and Liel Yahalomi.
