Israeli Mother and Daughter Missing in Vienna, Family and Embassy Seek Help

The Israeli Embassy in Vienna has issued a public appeal for assistance in locating Mally and Liel Yahalomi, a mother and daughter last seen in Vienna on Friday, August 9, 2026. Mally is 50 years old and her daughter Liel is 23. The two traveled from Prague to Vienna by train as planned and stayed at an apartment hotel in the city. Contact with them was lost after Friday, when they last sent photos and messages to family members.

Mally's sister, Elinor, told N12 that the family initially was not alarmed due to the observance of Shabbat, which delayed communication. However, by Sunday morning, messages sent to them on WhatsApp showed only one check mark, indicating they had not been read. Elinor emphasized that this break in communication was unusual, as she had been in contact with Mally privately on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

After no response was received by Sunday evening, the family alerted the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Israeli consul in Vienna has since coordinated with the apartment hotel management and the local Chabad community to locate the women. So far, no leads or indications of suspicious circumstances have emerged. The family hopes Mally and Liel will appear at Vienna airport today to catch their scheduled flight back to Israel.
