Israeli Mother and Daughter Missing in Vienna Spark Urgent Search Efforts

Mali and Liel Yahalomi, an Israeli mother and daughter traveling together in Europe, have been missing since last Friday. They were last seen in Vienna, where local authorities and the Jewish community are actively searching for them. According to Chabad emissary Reuven Timsit, who last saw them in Vienna, there are no leads yet, and the situation is very concerning, especially since they missed their scheduled flight back to Israel from Prague on Sunday night.

The pair had traveled from Prague to Vienna by train over the weekend and were supposed to return to Israel from Prague but never boarded the plane. Timsit noted that their belongings were not found in the apartment where they stayed, suggesting they might have left Vienna. The open borders within Europe complicate tracking, as they could be in another country where no search is underway.

Despite concerns, Timsit emphasized that Vienna is generally safe, with no unusual reports of antisemitism. The local police, Chabad, and the Jewish community are all mobilized in the search. Family members, including Mali’s brother-in-law Amir Rodnik, expressed growing worry after losing contact since Friday and have initiated a fundraising campaign to support the search efforts.

The case remains unresolved, with authorities and loved ones hoping for any information that could lead to finding the missing Israelis.
