Israeli Mother and Daughter Missing in Vienna as Search Intensifies

Mali and Liel Yahalomi, an Israeli mother and daughter traveling in Europe, have been missing since last Friday after losing contact in Vienna. The two were expected to return to Israel on a flight from Prague but never boarded, raising serious concerns about their whereabouts. According to Chabad emissary in Vienna, Reuven Timsit, local authorities and the Jewish community are actively searching, but so far no leads have emerged.

The pair had traveled from Prague to Vienna by train over the weekend and planned to attend a Shabbat dinner at the Chabad house in Vienna, but did not show up. Police searched their apartment but found their belongings missing, suggesting they may have left Vienna. Timsit noted the difficulty in tracing them due to the open borders within Europe and lack of phone or credit card activity.

There is currently no indication that their disappearance is linked to antisemitic incidents, and Vienna is considered a safe city. Family members last communicated with Mali and Liel on Friday before Shabbat, with the last message indicating they had arrived at their apartment. Since then, contact has been lost, and the family has launched a crowdfunding campaign to support the search efforts.

Authorities, Chabad representatives, Israeli travelers, and the local Jewish community continue to coordinate the search, emphasizing the urgency and complexity of the case as time passes without any sign of the missing women.
