Suspect Surrenders After Lawyer Is Fatally Shot in Office in Rishon Lezion

A man in his 20s from Ramla surrendered to police following a manhunt after fatally shooting a lawyer in his 50s at the lawyer's office on Moshe Levi Street in Rishon Lezion on Tuesday afternoon. According to initial investigation findings, the suspect was known to the victim and arrived at the office for a meeting. During the encounter, he pulled out a firearm, fired multiple shots, and fled the scene on foot, leaving the victim bleeding on the floor.

Emergency services, including United Hatzalah and Magen David Adom, responded quickly but found the lawyer unconscious and without vital signs, confirming his death at the scene. Police from the Rishon Lezion station and the Central Unit of the Shfela region launched an immediate investigation and set up roadblocks to track the suspect.

Central District Police Commander Amir Cohen arrived at the scene, held a briefing with senior officials, and assigned the Central Unit of the district to lead the investigation. The manhunt extended across multiple police districts, including cooperation with the Lachish Unit from the Southern District, which traced the suspect's escape route. This led to the suspect turning himself in to authorities and being transferred for interrogation.

The police plan to bring the suspect to court on Wednesday to request an extension of his detention. Authorities continue to investigate the motives and circumstances behind the shooting. The incident comes amid a recent rise in violence and crime in central Israel, including the exposure of a sophisticated crime network in Tel Aviv and increased attacks on police officers during enforcement operations.
