Netanyahu Vows Lessons Learned After Gaza Drone Incident Kills Reservists

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the deaths of two Israeli reservist soldiers, Nadav Kali and Ofek Moalem, who were killed in Gaza on Thursday following the explosion of an IDF drone. The incident occurred at a military outpost in northern Gaza where the soldiers were operating.

According to the IDF spokesperson, two drones were deployed during an operation. One drone, an "Atalef" type, exploded at its target. A second drone returned to the outpost and fell inside a tent. When Kali and Moalem approached the fallen drone to inspect it, it exploded, causing severe to critical injuries. Both soldiers were evacuated to a hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Netanyahu expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the "brave reservist fighters" who he said were defending Israel's security. He extended condolences to their families and emphasized the need for the IDF to thoroughly investigate the incident and implement all necessary lessons to ensure the safety of its soldiers. "The IDF is investigating the incident, all necessary lessons must be learned and implemented to ensure the safety and security of IDF soldiers," Netanyahu stated.

In response to the tragedy, the Chief of Staff has ordered the establishment of an expert team to examine the circumstances of the incident and prevent similar occurrences in the future. The IDF has also issued new directives for the coming days in light of the event.
