Two Reserve Soldiers Killed in Gaza Operational Accident
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the deaths of two reserve soldiers, Sergeant Major Nadav Keli, 24, from Har Halutza, and Sergeant Major Ofek Moalem, 23, from Jerusalem. Both were members of the 7007th Battalion, 16th Brigade, operating in the Gaza Strip.
The soldiers were killed on Tuesday afternoon in an operational accident involving an explosive drone. According to the IDF, the two soldiers, who were drone operators, approached a drone that had fallen within their position. When they attempted to lift it, the drone detonated, causing fatal injuries.
Both soldiers were critically wounded and succumbed to their injuries. The IDF has temporarily suspended the use of this type of drone pending the completion of an investigation into the incident. The military is conducting a full inquiry to understand the circumstances that led to the explosion.
