IDF Chief of Staff Orders Investigation into Gaza Combat Incident Killing Soldiers
Following a severe safety incident in the Gaza Strip combat zone that resulted in the deaths of reservist Master Sergeants Nadav Kalai and Ofek Moalem, the IDF Chief of Staff has ordered the establishment of an expert team to investigate the circumstances. The incident occurred due to an explosive drone malfunction during operational activity, not from direct enemy fire or confrontation with terrorists.
The investigation team will be headed by a Brigadier General from the Ground Forces. Its primary objective is to conduct a comprehensive and in-depth inquiry into the disaster, extract immediate lessons learned, and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
