Two Israeli Soldiers Killed in Drone Malfunction in Gaza

Two Israeli reservist soldiers, Sergeant Major Nadav Kalai, 24, from Har Halutz, and Sergeant Major Ofek Moalem, 23, from Jerusalem, were killed yesterday in northern Gaza when an Israeli military drone exploded. The military spokesperson confirmed the deaths Friday morning. The soldiers were operating near a base close to Beit Hanoun when the incident occurred. They were piloting two drones; the first mission was successful, but the second drone crashed within the base. When the soldiers approached the crashed drone, it exploded for reasons still under investigation. Both soldiers were treated at the scene and evacuated by helicopter to an Israeli hospital in critical condition, where they were pronounced dead.
