IDF Establishes Expert Panel After Gaza Drone Incident Kills Soldiers
Following a serious security incident in the Gaza Strip that resulted in the deaths of two reservist soldiers, the Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, has ordered the formation of an expert team to investigate the circumstances. The soldiers, Staff Sgt. Maj. (Res.) Nadav Kali and Staff Sgt. Maj. (Res.) Ofek Moalem, were killed by a drone explosion at a military post. The investigation team will be headed by a Brigadier General from the Ground Forces and aims to prevent similar incidents in the future.
As a precautionary measure, the commander of the Ground Forces has temporarily suspended the use of attack drones for 48 hours. A reassessment will take place after this period. The IDF stated that the "Atalef" drone model, involved in the explosion, has been in operational use across all conflict zones since the beginning of the war.
