Two Soldiers Killed in Gaza Blast, Including Second Victim from Same Small Village

Sergeant First Class (Res.) Nadav Kali, 24, from the small village of Har Halutz in the Upper Galilee, was killed in northern Gaza on Thursday. He died alongside Sergeant First Class (Res.) Ofek Moalem when a drone they approached at a base exploded. This is the second fatality from Har Halutz since the war began; Kali's classmate, Sergeant Major Itay Saadon, who lived opposite Kali's parents, was killed in Gaza in November 2023.

Kali and Moalem were soldiers in the 7007th Battalion. The incident is under investigation by the IDF, which has temporarily halted the use of that specific drone model. Kali, who had recently completed his regular service in 2024 before joining the reserves, is survived by his parents, two older brothers, and his girlfriend of many years.

Friends remembered Kali as a strong, loyal, and central figure in their lives, known for his "huge smile" and dedication. They recalled deep conversations ranging from "stars and science" to personal life decisions. Another friend highlighted Kali's passion for music, noting their collaboration on projects, including a jazz recital and a recording project, which they managed to complete despite the complexities of reserve duty.

The Misgav Regional Council issued a statement mourning Kali's death and extending condolences to his family. He was laid to rest on Friday at 1:00 PM in the Misgav cemetery.
