Maccabi Haifa confirmed on Sunday, June 21, 2026, that captain Dolev Haziza has been told he is not part of the club’s professional plans for next season. In a meeting attended by the coaching staff, he was informed that the team is not counting on him for 2026/27 and that he should look for a new club.
Haziza, 30, has been one of Haifa’s most important players in recent years. He joined from Bnei Yehuda in 2019, became captain, won three league titles with the club and played in the Champions League.
He still has one year left on his contract, and if he remained he was expected to earn about 350,000 euros next season. This season he scored nine goals in all competitions and added two assists, while also serving as one of the team’s penalty takers.
Throughout the campaign, Haziza alternated between winger and central midfield roles. Coach Barak Bakhar is said to value him highly and remember his better periods, but his status declined this season. He started 20 of Haifa’s 36 league matches, with the drop especially noticeable after the war break in the top playoff.
