Maccabi Haifa confirmed on Sunday that Dolev Haziza is no longer in its plans for next season, backing up a report by Sport5. In a meeting held with the professional staff present, the club told its captain that it is not counting on him for 2026/27 and that he should look for another team.
Haziza, 30, has been one of Haifa’s most important players in recent years. He joined from Bnei Yehuda in 2019, became captain, won three league titles with the club, and also played in the Champions League.
He still has one more year on his contract, and if he had stayed he was due to earn about 350,000 euros next season. This season he scored nine goals in all competitions and added two assists, while also serving as one of the team’s penalty takers.
The midfielder and winger changed roles throughout the campaign, moving between the flank and central midfield. Coach Barak Bachar is said to value Haziza and remember his best periods, but his standing dropped this season, especially after the league resumed following the war break. He started 20 of Haifa’s 36 league matches.
