He described the situation in Gaza as "catastrophic, unjustifiable, and disproportionate," expressing that his heart breaks at the destruction and loss of civilian lives, including children. Sheeran also condemned the "systematic injustice" occurring in the West Bank.

Sheeran explained his initial reluctance to take a public stance, stating he never wanted to be an "activist musician" and that his concerts have always been a "safe space for everyone." He acknowledged making difficult decisions and mistakes over the past week, apologizing to fans. He emphasized his desire for his music and performances to be about unity, not division, but felt compelled to speak out on this "humanitarian issue."

His remarks came after Macklemore was removed from opening for Sheeran's tour due to pro-Palestinian statements made during his performances.
