IDF Dismantles Hezbollah's Strategic Stronghold in Southern Lebanon

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the completion of a four-month covert operation in southern Lebanon, during which it dismantled Hezbollah's strategic underground infrastructure on the Ali Taher ridge. The IDF described the site as a flagship stronghold for the organization, built over two decades with Iranian assistance, and intended to support a broader operational plan against northern Israel.

According to the IDF, the Ali Taher ridge served as a fortified and protected base for Hezbollah, housing underground complexes, command posts, and infrastructure designed for prolonged operations. The military stated that these facilities were crucial for Hezbollah's plans to conquer Israeli communities in the Galilee and to control fire and observation over key areas along the northern border. The ridge's strategic location provided Hezbollah with a significant advantage, offering observation capabilities over towns like Metula and Kiryat Shmona.

The operation, approved by the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, is part of a larger effort to solidify Israeli operational control in the security zone of southern Lebanon. The IDF emphasized that the destruction of the infrastructure is not the end of the operation; forces are preparing for sustained defense of the area to prevent Hezbollah from rebuilding its military presence.

The successful dismantling of these underground assets reportedly grants Israeli forces full operational control over the ridge, both above and below ground, enhancing security along the northern border.
