IDF Destroys Hezbollah's Iran-Backed Infrastructure in Southern Lebanon

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have successfully struck and destroyed significant underground terrorist infrastructure belonging to Hezbollah in the Al-Taher mountain range in southern Lebanon, a move described by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz as a strategic victory. The operation, carried out under their directive, targeted a facility built over two decades with Iranian funding and planning. The IDF stated that the elimination of this infrastructure completes the establishment of a security zone in southern Lebanon.

According to the IDF, the destroyed site served as a strategic terrorist hub and command center intended for use as a base to capture the Galilee region. It also provided surveillance and fire control over the Israeli towns of Metula and Kiryat Shmona. The military emphasized that its destruction establishes operational control over the Al-Taher mountain range, both above and below ground.

The IDF is preparing to secure the area and prevent the return of militants, vowing to maintain a presence in the security zone, eliminate terrorist infrastructure, and thwart any attempts by Hezbollah to re-establish its presence and capabilities. Israel also intends to continue defending its northern communities from Lebanese territory. The IDF reiterated that any attacks on Israeli civilians or soldiers will be met with a decisive response.

In recent weeks, the IDF's 36th Division had been conducting extensive operations to identify and destroy Hezbollah's underground facilities in the Al-Taher region. The destroyed underground complex reportedly housed command centers, weapons storage, generators, living quarters, kitchens, and showers.
