Netanyahu Vows Iran Will Not Obtain Nuclear Weapons Under His Leadership

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed reports on Thursday evening concerning renewed Iranian efforts to advance its nuclear program. "President Trump announced this evening that Iran is trying to re-arm with nuclear weapons, and that is correct," Netanyahu stated. He asserted that after Iran's immediate capability to produce nuclear bombs was "destroyed" both in "the people of the lion" and "the roar of the lion" operations, they are attempting again.

Speaking from the Western Wall ahead of Rosh Hashanah, Netanyahu pledged, "As long as I am prime minister, Iran will not have nuclear weapons." He also detailed ongoing Israeli military actions against the "Iranian axis." "At the same time, we are striking the Iranian axis, not only very hard in the Gaza Strip, but also in Lebanon. We destroyed the Beaufort Ridge and are now dealing with the Ali Tahar Ridge," Netanyahu said, referring to military operations in southern Lebanon.
