Wizz Air Expands Israeli Operations With New European Flights

Vesty
Translated & summarized from Vesty by baba
The story · English

Budget airline Wizz Air is significantly expanding its operations in Israel, resuming flights from Ben Gurion Airport to five European destinations and increasing the frequency of services on 11 other routes. The expansion, reported on September 7 by Calcalist, comes as Israel's security situation continues to impact airport schedules, with some foreign airlines reducing or suspending flights.

Wizz Air has restarted services to Catania, Sicily; London Gatwick; Venice; Cluj, Romania; and Iasi, Romania. Weekly frequencies for these routes will be four flights to Catania, five to London Gatwick, three to Venice, and two each to Cluj and Iasi.

Simultaneously, the airline is boosting frequencies on popular routes. Flights to Budapest will increase from 14 to 21 per week, Milan from 7 to 14, Rome from 12 to 14, and Bucharest from 11 to 14. Other routes seeing increased service include Bratislava and Naples (from five to seven flights weekly), Sofia (from six to seven), Varna (from two to three), Athens (from five to seven), Vilnius (from two to four), and Warsaw (from four to five).

Overall, Wizz Air will add 30 weekly flights on existing routes and introduce 16 weekly flights across the five resumed destinations. This expansion aims to partially offset the capacity deficit caused by other airlines' cutbacks, offering more choices to passengers and intensifying competition on key European routes.
