Wizz Air Adds Dozens of Weekly Flights from Israel Amid Regional Uncertainty

Low-cost carrier Wizz Air is significantly expanding its operations in Israel, adding dozens of weekly flights to its schedule. The airline is bringing back five routes and increasing frequencies on 11 existing ones, including popular destinations like Budapest, Milan, Rome, Bucharest, Athens, and Warsaw. Tickets for these expanded services are now available for purchase.

This expansion comes at a time of renewed uncertainty in the aviation industry due to regional security developments. Wizz Air itself has experienced operational suspensions and resumptions in Israel multiple times this year, prompted by the ongoing conflict and tensions with Iran. Consequently, the airline acknowledges that even this newly announced expanded schedule may be subject to change based on the security situation.

The five routes returning to service are London Gatwick with five weekly flights, Catania with four, Venice with three, and Cluj and Iasi, each with two weekly flights. Concurrently, Wizz Air is boosting the frequency of several existing routes. The most substantial increase is on the Budapest route, rising from 14 to 21 flights per week. The Milan route will double its frequency from seven to 14 weekly flights, and Bucharest will see an increase from 11 to 14. Rome's flights will increase from 12 to 14 weekly, Bratislava and Naples from five to seven each, and Athens from five to seven.

Further frequency enhancements include doubling the Vilnius route from two to four weekly flights. Sofia will increase from six to seven, Varna from two to three, and Warsaw from four to five. In total, these frequency increases add 27 weekly flights, while the return of the five routes contributes an additional 16 flights per week. Wizz Air states this represents a total addition of 43 weekly flights compared to its previous operational scope.

Wizz Air has also provided sample fares for October, with a flight to Rome starting at 56 euros, Venice at 60 euros, and London Gatwick at 70 euros. These prices are as provided by the company and may vary based on booking time and additional services like baggage or seat selection. Wizz Air operates a fleet of 270 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft. The company's stock trades on the London Stock Exchange under the ticker WIZZ, and in 2025, it transported 68.6 million passengers.
