Israel Warns of Terror Attacks Abroad Ahead of High Holidays

Israel's National Security Council (NSC) has issued an updated threat assessment for Israelis abroad, warning of increased terror attempts, particularly around the upcoming High Holidays and the third anniversary of the October 7th massacre. The advisory aims to raise public awareness of potential threats worldwide and encourage preventative measures.

Iran, Hezbollah, and Hamas are identified as the primary state and non-state actors behind these threats. Iran is described as the central instigator, seeking revenge for recent blows and focusing on attacks against diplomatic missions and senior security personnel. Hezbollah poses a significant threat due to its desire to avenge the deaths of its operatives, while Hamas is reportedly working to establish terror infrastructures in Europe for high-profile attacks.

Global jihadist groups like ISIS and Al-Qaeda continue to call for attacks against Jews, with potential targets in Africa, Asia, and European capitals. The NSC highlighted specific risk areas, including Azerbaijan, Turkey, and the UAE due to their proximity to Iran and Iranian infrastructure. It strongly advises against travel to Jordan, Qatar, Somaliland, and Egypt, including the Sinai Peninsula.

Travel is strictly prohibited by law to Iraq, Yemen, Iran, Syria, and Lebanon due to extreme danger. Additionally, Israelis are advised to avoid Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Somalia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Libya, and Algeria due to high-risk factors. Since the war began, 25 Israelis and Jews have been killed in attacks abroad.
