Israel Warns of Heightened Terror Threats Abroad Ahead of Holidays

Israel's National Security Council (NSC) has issued a comprehensive assessment of current threats to Israelis and Jews worldwide, warning of a significant increase in terror motivation due to the ongoing war and the upcoming third anniversary of the October 7th massacre. Iran is identified as the primary global terror instigator, with Tehran seeking revenge for recent blows by utilizing criminal networks and proxy groups to target Israeli diplomatic missions and security personnel. Hezbollah is also highlighted as a major potential threat, driven by a desire to avenge the deaths of its senior operatives.

Hamas, despite its primary focus on the local theater, is reportedly investing heavily in establishing terror infrastructure in Europe. The NSC believes Hamas aims to carry out "showcase attacks" against Jewish targets in Western countries as part of its propaganda and revenge campaign. Since the war began, 25 Israelis and Jews have been murdered in attacks globally. A significant portion of these attacks are attributed to lone actors radicalized online, targeting "soft targets" like kosher restaurants and Chabad houses, posing a decentralized and difficult-to-thwart threat.

Global jihad organizations, including ISIS and Al-Qaeda, continue to call for attacks against Jews in Europe and the US. The Houthi rebels in Yemen are also reportedly inciting attacks against Israelis in East Africa and Somaliland. The NSC has designated several countries as sensitive or high-risk zones, including Turkey, Azerbaijan, and the UAE due to their proximity to Iranian terror infrastructure. Jordan, Egypt (including Sinai), and Qatar are under severe warnings (Level 4), with a recommendation to avoid all travel, including transit. Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and Iran remain designated as enemy states with a prohibition on entry due to life-threatening danger.

The NSC advises travelers to avoid displaying any Israeli or Jewish symbols, refrain from real-time social media check-ins, and remove photos indicating military service. It also recommends staying away from demonstrations and political friction points. Security officials emphasized that public vigilance is crucial for preventing attacks and urged immediate contact with local police in case of suspicion.
