Israel Warns of Terror Attacks Abroad Ahead of High Holidays

Israel's National Security Council (NSC) has issued an updated threat assessment for Israelis abroad, warning of increased terror attempts, particularly around the upcoming High Holidays and the third anniversary of the October 7th massacre. The advisory aims to raise public awareness of global threats and encourage preventative measures.

Iran, Hezbollah, and Hamas are identified as the primary terror threats. Iran is seen as the main instigator, seeking revenge for recent attacks and focusing on diplomatic missions and senior security personnel. Hezbollah aims to retaliate for the deaths of its commanders, while Hamas is working to establish terror infrastructure in Europe for high-profile attacks. Global jihad groups like ISIS and Al-Qaeda continue to call for attacks on Jews, especially in Africa, Asia, and European capitals.

The NSC highlighted specific risk areas. Azerbaijan, Turkey, and the UAE are considered vulnerable due to their proximity to Iran and Iranian infrastructure. Travel is strongly discouraged to Jordan, Qatar, Somaliland, and Egypt, including the Sinai Peninsula. Israelis are legally prohibited from traveling to Iraq, Yemen, Iran, Syria, and Lebanon due to extreme danger. High-risk countries where travel should be avoided include Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Somalia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Libya, and Algeria.

Since the start of the current conflict, 25 Israelis and Jews have been killed in attacks abroad. The NSC emphasized that these are not new travel warnings but an update reflecting current trends in terrorist activity and their impact on threat levels.
