השב"כ והמשטרה עצרו בשבועות האחרונים את מוסטפא עיסא, בן 19, תושב כפר קאסם, בחשד שתכנן לבצע פיגוע. הצהרת תביעה הוגשה נגדו לבית המשפט המחוזי בלוד, לקראת הגשת כתב אישום.

על פי הודעתם המשותפת, במהלך החקירה התברר כי עיסא הושפע עמוקות מ"צוק איתן" ומאירועי ה-7 באוקטובר, והיה בשלבי תכנון לביצוע פיגוע. בעת מעצרו נתפסו ברשותו "ציוד אימונים רב ונשקי איירסופט".

עוד עולה מהחקירה כי עיסא חיפש בטלפון שלו מדריכים ללחימה, שמר חומרים בנושא הכנת מטעני חבלה, ניסה להכין מטענים כאלה ואף שיתף אחרים בתכנוניו.
