Arab Israeli Arrested for Alleged Terror Plot and Bomb-Making Attempts

The Shin Bet security agency and the Central District's YAMAR (Special Patrol Unit) of the Israel Police have arrested Mustafa Issa, a 19-year-old Arab Israeli citizen from Kafr Qasim, in recent weeks. Issa is suspected of planning a terror attack and engaging in terrorist activities. According to a joint statement from the Shin Bet and police, the investigation revealed that Issa was significantly influenced by the events of Operation "Guardian of the Walls" and the Hamas massacre on Simchat Torah (October 7th). He subsequently began planning an attack.

During his arrest, Issa was found with extensive training equipment and an airsoft weapon. His phone contained searches for combat guides and instructions on how to build explosive devices, which he had downloaded and saved. The investigation further indicated that Issa did not limit himself to gathering information but also attempted to construct bombs using various materials and involved other individuals in his efforts.

Following his interrogation by the Shin Bet and YAMAR, a statement of charges was filed with the Central District Court, paving the way for an indictment. Both the Shin Bet and police emphasized the seriousness with which they view any involvement of Israeli citizens in activities that endanger national security. They also stated that security forces will continue to utilize all available means to thwart threats and prosecute those involved.
