Israeli Police Arrest Southern Resident for Planning Terror Attack in Beersheba
Abdallah Gargawi, a 20-year-old resident of Segev Shalom in southern Israel, was arrested on July 19 on suspicion of planning a terror attack in Beersheba. The arrest followed an operational activity by the Yoav Unit and Segev Shalom police. Gargawi is accused of contacting a foreign agent, possessing illegal weapons, and preparing to carry out a terror attack at the Forum club in Beersheba using a car bomb.
Investigations revealed Gargawi’s prolonged exposure to ISIS-related content on social media, his ideological alignment with the group, and participation in Telegram groups exchanging terror-related materials. He also allegedly communicated with individuals posing as Palestinian terror operatives. Evidence showed he prepared explosives and possessed illegal firearms, including an M16-style weapon, and conducted live fire in open areas during March and April 2026. His home contained numerous weapons from 2025, such as a MAG, Kalashnikov, Negev rifle, M16, magazines, and ammunition.
Following the investigation, the Southern District Prosecutor’s Office filed serious charges against Gargawi for security offenses and illegal possession of weapons and ammunition. Authorities emphasized the severity of his planned terror activities and stated that his intentions were thwarted in advance through coordinated efforts by the Israel Police and Shin Bet. Both agencies reaffirmed their commitment to preventing terror acts and prosecuting those involved to the fullest extent of the law.
