Israeli Citizen Arrested for Smuggling Bomb-Making Materials to West Bank Terror Groups
After months of covert investigation, Israeli authorities arrested 14 suspects involved in smuggling dual-use materials into the West Bank. The investigation revealed that an Israeli citizen collaborated with Palestinians to transfer these materials to terror organizations in the region for manufacturing explosive devices. The probe was launched following a rise in bomb attacks in Judea and Samaria.
During a raid overnight between Sunday and Monday, police seized an additional 175 kilograms of hazardous materials. Dual-use items, which have legitimate civilian applications in industry, medicine, and agriculture, can also be converted for military or terrorist purposes, including weapons of mass destruction. Due to their risks, their trade and transport are strictly regulated in Israel by the Dual-Use Export Control Division under the Ministry of Economy and Industry, alongside tax authorities and security agencies.
Recent months have seen an increase in explosive terror attacks in the West Bank. For example, soldiers from Battalion 21 uncovered a multi-level terror lab in Tulkarm producing explosive devices, and a sophisticated bomb attack was thwarted near Shiloh thanks to a vigilant civilian who reported suspicious components. The investigation into the smuggling network is ongoing, with further arrests expected as developments unfold.
