Israeli Forces Arrest Illegal Immigrants Including Suspected Imminent Terrorist at West Bank Checkpoints
Two dramatic arrests of illegal immigrants took place on Tuesday in the West Bank, with one suspect identified as wanted by Israeli security forces for planning an imminent terror attack. The arrests occurred within hours of each other at the A-Za'im checkpoint and the Tunnel checkpoint, carried out by Judea and Samaria district police and Border Police units.
At the A-Za'im crossing, intelligence-led operations by the Crime Fighting Unit in the Gilad area, alongside Border Police fighters from the Jerusalem periphery and checkpoint units, uncovered two illegal immigrants hidden in a car trunk. One of the suspects, a resident of Tulkarm in his 20s or 40s, was found to be wanted for security investigations on suspicion of planning an immediate terror attack. Both suspects were taken for interrogation at Maale Adumim police station and subsequently detained.
Earlier the same day, at the Tunnel checkpoint, a Jerusalem resident driving an Israeli vehicle was stopped while transporting two illegal immigrants from Azaria and Za'tara. The two presented forged Israeli identity cards in an attempt to evade detection. The suspects were arrested, the vehicle confiscated, and all were transferred to the Etzion police station for questioning.
These operations highlight ongoing Israeli security efforts to prevent terror attacks and illegal crossings in the West Bank through coordinated intelligence and enforcement actions.
