Shin Bet and Police Arrest Arab Israeli Teen for Terror Plot
The Shin Bet security agency and the Israel Police's YAMAM counter-terrorism unit have arrested Mustafa Issa, a 19-year-old resident of Kafr Qasim, on suspicion of planning a terror attack and attempting to manufacture explosives. The arrest followed a joint investigation that revealed Issa was influenced by the May 2021 "Operation Guardian of the Walls" events and the October 7th Hamas attack.
Investigators allege that Issa began planning an attack after these events. During his arrest, training equipment and airsoft weapons were found in his possession. Further investigation indicated that he had used his mobile phone to search for combat guides and download instructions on how to build explosive devices.
Authorities claim Issa did not stop at research, alleging he attempted to construct explosive devices using various materials and involved others in these efforts. Following his interrogation by the Shin Bet and YAMAM, a statement of prosecution was filed in the Central District Court, paving the way for an indictment.
The Shin Bet and police stated they view the involvement of Israeli citizens in activities that endanger national security very seriously and will continue to act to thwart threats and prosecute those involved.
