IDF Arrests Terrorist Planning Attack After Shin Bet Tip
Israeli forces arrested a Palestinian man in Hebron on suspicion of planning an imminent shooting attack, according to a statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released on Thursday. The Shin Bet security agency identified the suspect, Abd al-Rahman, after he posted on social media expressing his intent to carry out a shooting attack against Israeli soldiers and civilians. His image and details were circulated to forces in the area.
Soldiers from the Paratroopers Brigade intercepted and apprehended the suspect at a checkpoint in Hebron. The IDF statement acknowledged that the suspect was not found to be in possession of a weapon at the time of his arrest. He was subsequently transferred to the Shin Bet for further interrogation.
The arrest occurred during the Jewish holiday period. In parallel, the commander of the IDF's Central Command, Major General Avi Blout, conducted surprise visits to several battalions to assess their operational readiness and preparedness for various scenarios, including war.
