Noa Kirel updates fans after emergency hospital return from honeymoon
Israeli pop star Noa Kirel said she is recovering after her honeymoon in Japan with her husband, footballer Daniel Peretz, was cut short by a medical emergency. The couple had planned a two-week trip, but Kirel fell ill at the start of the vacation and was flown back to Israel for treatment at a hospital in central Israel.
On Sunday morning, Kirel posted an update to her Instagram account, where she has about one million followers, to calm concern over her condition. “We planned a honeymoon, but my appendix did not really cooperate. I am fine, thank you all for the concern, I have an amazing husband who took care of me. Only health, amen,” she wrote. She also thanked the staff at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv, where she has been hospitalized in recent days.
From her message, it appears the pain began at the start of the trip in Tokyo and was likely caused by appendicitis, forcing the couple to return to Israel on an emergency flight. Until Saturday, her family had asked for privacy, but growing speculation and rumors about why she was hospitalized prompted Kirel to address the situation publicly.
The honeymoon had been carefully scheduled around both of their demanding routines. Kirel had just finished preparing two major shows at the Amfi Park in Rishon Lezion earlier this month, while Peretz had been training intensively and only recently signed with Southampton. The two were married in November in two separate celebrations, one intimate gathering in Jaffa and a second large event in Tel Aviv with about 1,000 guests.
