Israel Faces Extreme Heatwave With Peak Temperatures Expected Sunday

Israel is experiencing a significant heatwave, with temperatures today (Friday) ranging from hot to scorching, especially in the mountains and inland areas, while coastal plains remain warm. Most regions are under heavy to extreme heat stress, with the maximum solar radiation index predicted to be very high to extreme. Extreme heat is expected in southern Golan Heights and its slopes, northern valleys, Lower Galilee, Sea of Galilee basin, Dead Sea coast, Jordan Valley, Arava, Judean Desert, and eastern Negev. Heavy heat stress will affect northern Golan, western Galilee, Carmel, Menashe Heights, coastal plain, Shfela, central hills, northern and southern Negev.

Tonight will be clear to partly cloudy, with possible visibility restrictions in northwest Negev early morning due to local fog. Tomorrow will remain hotter than usual to scorching, with heat stress intensifying to heavy and extreme across the country. Sunday is forecasted to be the heatwave's peak, with slight temperature increases and scorching conditions in most mountainous and inland areas, while the coastal plain stays warm. Heat stress will be heavy to extreme everywhere, with winds strengthening from midday.

On Monday, temperatures will slightly decrease but remain above average and scorching in most inland and mountainous areas, with the coastal plain continuing to experience warm conditions. Heavy to extreme heat stress will persist nationwide, accompanied by stronger afternoon winds. Forecasted temperatures today and tonight include Jerusalem 21-33°C, Tel Aviv 24-32°C, Haifa 23-31°C, Safed 21-34°C, Katzrin 21-39°C, Tiberias 24-39°C, Nazareth 23-38°C, Afula 21-37°C, Beit She'an 26-41°C, Lod 23-34°C, Ashdod 23-32°C, Ein Gedi 29-40°C, Beersheba 22-36°C, Mitzpe Ramon 24-36°C, and Eilat 30-41°C.
