Yair Golan Sues Sara Netanyahu for Millions Over Hamas Attack Conspiracy Claims

Former IDF Deputy Chief of Staff Yair Golan has filed a multi-million shekel lawsuit against Sara Netanyahu, wife of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, after she allegedly refused to retract insinuations that he had prior knowledge of the October 7th Hamas attack. Golan claims these conspiracy theories, which he asserts were maliciously fabricated to deflect responsibility for the disaster, have led to a 450% surge in incitement against him online.

According to the lawsuit filed on September 10, 2026, intelligence warnings were received about potential threats to Golan's safety following an interview he gave on Channel 14. The suit details that the heightened threat level necessitated a significant increase in his private security arrangements, particularly in anticipation of upcoming elections.

Golan's legal team stated that the claims are false and intended to incite against him, damaging his reputation despite his past military service and actions on October 7th, when he reportedly traveled to the Gaza border region to assist and rescue civilians. The lawsuit also alleges that a Netanyahu advisor viewed the interview before its broadcast, indicating premeditation.

Beyond defamation, the lawsuit uniquely seeks civil damages for violating a criminal statute against inciting violence. Golan's attorney, Giora Ardinest, emphasized that the statements put Golan in tangible danger and that he, like all Israelis, was alerted by the sirens on October 7th, but still acted bravely. Ardinest vowed that those responsible for such incitement would pay the price.
