Yair Golan Sues Sara Netanyahu for Defamation Over Conspiracy Claims
Yair Golan, chairman of the Democratic Party, has filed a massive NIS 2.5 million defamation lawsuit against Sara Netanyahu, wife of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The lawsuit follows an interview Netanyahu gave to Channel 14, in which she promoted a conspiracy theory against Golan.
Last week, Golan sent Netanyahu a letter of warning, stating that if she did not issue a public apology within 24 hours and pay financial compensation to be donated to survivors of the Nova music festival massacre, he would file the lawsuit. The NIS 2.5 million claim is the minimum amount sought.
During the interview, Sara Netanyahu questioned Golan's actions on October 7th, suggesting he was prepared unusually early. "You claim you were fighting on October 7th, you were already there dressed and ready very early in the morning, when others didn't know, such as the Prime Minister," she stated.
The Likud party, in response to Golan's actions, called his statements a "chauvinistic, thuggish, and violent show."
