Yair Golan Sues Sara Netanyahu for Defamation Over Oct. 7 Remarks

Yair Golan, chairman of the Democratic Movement party, has filed a NIS 2.5 million defamation lawsuit against Sara Netanyahu. The suit, submitted to the Central District Court in Lod, stems from an interview on Channel 14 where Netanyahu implied Golan had prior knowledge of the October 7th Hamas attacks.

Golan vehemently denies these allegations, stating that Netanyahu's remarks constitute incitement and have led to a significant increase in threats against him. He claims the alleged incitement has surged by 450%, with the threats becoming more severe following the interview. The lawsuit seeks damages for the harm caused to his reputation and the increased personal danger he faces.

Netanyahu's interview, which aired on Channel 14, suggested that Golan's public statements prior to the attacks indicated he was aware of an impending event. This insinuation has been strongly refuted by Golan and his party, who argue it is baseless and dangerous. The legal action highlights the intense political tensions and personal animosity present in Israeli politics, particularly in the aftermath of the October 7th massacre.
